Malpractice needs more practice

I sprung out of my seat and grabbed my medical kit on instinct. I slipped my sunglasses back down and ran down the hallway toward the source of the noise. I skidded to a stop spotting a figure lying on the ground with burns on his back. I grabbed one of his wrists and checked his pulse. I let out a sigh and shook his shoulder lightly, avoiding the burn. “I’m moving you to my office, okay?” I asked, gingerly trying to get him into a standing position.

I sighed and opted to just try and pick him up instead. My office wasn’t too far away. “Maldito gringo.” I muttered, shooting a glare at the passing Templar. I gingerly picked up the guy best I could. It took me some effort and time but I managed to get him onto the examination table. “ Any important allergies I should know about?” I asked, wetting a towel in the sink. I walked over to him and squeezed the towel so some water fell on the burn. I had to cool it down before I could do anything else.

I'd have to rinse his burn for another 15 to 30 minutes and it would hurt a bit but it was necessary so the burn wouldn't get any more serious. A chuckle escaped my lips at his reply. “Hey, look at that, I’m allergic to stupid people to.” I replied, grinning slightly. I dripped some more water onto his back, trying to keep it flowing steadily and covering the whole burn area.

“You've got a second degree burn. Aloe Vera won't help." I replied, smiling sympathetically at him. The healing process did take a while, requiring patience some people didn't have. I got serious when I heard what he said last. I looked over the burn again. The swelling had gone down and I could make out a word. I cursed under my breath and frowned. “ I hope your reason for joining is good. Everyone here seems to have caught a bad case of the A$shole.” I replied bitterly.

I sighed and made another stream of water cover the burn. In a couple of minutes I could move on to cleaning it and then adding ointment. A small smile formed at the corner of my lips at the mention of him proposing to his kind –of girlfriend; I had a soft spot for those type of things. “ Easier said than done. You do realize Dimitri is a vindictive a$$hole right?” I replied, glancing at the rooms closed door despite sounding confident.

The planned murder had my attention. I knew the Templars didn’t have a problem killing people but killing one of their own went a little far. “If you find her, reference her to me. I know a good way to get in and out of here.” I replied, my voice a bit lower than normal. I had enough trouble with the other Templars; my medical skills were the only reason for them to keep me around anyways. I just shrugged off his comment about the noise. “It’s fine. At least you have some control over your powers. I haven’t used mine in a long time.” I said, finishing up with cooling down the burn.

I lowered my sunglasses and glanced over at his face, my feline eyes becoming visible. “Yeah. I can control water. Well I can’t with this choker on, but still.” I replied, walking over to the cabinet and looking around for the burn ointment. I grabbed the familiar green bottle before stopping for a second, realizing who this guy was. I had known who he was but it hadn’t registered until now. I’d been more concerned about his wound than anything else. “You’re Thomas Ellis right?” I asked, turning on my heel, bottle in hand.

My eyes widened a bit in response to his answer. He was an important guy; why he had chosen this method of alliance was beyond me but I didn't want to question it and start a fight. I stepped closer to the examination table with some gauze and the ointment, trying to seem as nonthreatening as possible. “Do you really think you’ll be able to have Dimitri help you fight the Doom?” I asked, separating a piece of gauze to use to kind of clean and dry the burn so I could put the ointment on.

I chuckled and rolled me eyes. “Well, I wish you the best of luck. You’re going to need it.” I replied, my voice softening just a bit. “This might hurt a bit.” I said, rolling up my sleeves, preparing to clean the burn with the gauze. I started off slowly wiping it down, doing the more tender parts first to get the more sensitive areas over with first.

"Ha-hey buddy, how ya doin'? I was sent to uh, check up on ya by the big guy." Dax walked into the room clueless to anything that had happened prior. He rubbed the burned skin. "Oh dang man, that had ta hurt. Anyways, doc, give him this." He handed Theresa a few syringes filed with a black liquid and a bullet. "Let him chew on that while you pump 'em with he stuff."

I cleaned up the wound as quickly and efficiently as I could after I was done with the worse off areas of the burn. A small smile formed on the corner of my lips when he thanked me. “It’s no problem.” I murmured in response. It quickly disappeared at the mention of Senas state and the names. I sighed and finished up, turning on my heel to grab some bandages. I froze in my tracks when Dax walked in, a frown etching itself onto my face. I looked at what he had handed me and rolled my eyes. “If you’re done hassling my patient get outta my office.” I growled at him, disdainfully placing the syringe and bullet on the counter.

Dax let out a chuckle and sat in an empty chair. "that ain't happenen doc. I came to see how you were treating our a... Friend here. Is he happy??" Dax asked as he pulled a pistol from his bag.

I mentally groaned when I saw him sit down. I didn't like Dax and I wasn't completely on board with the injections either. But I had to deal with them regardless of how I felt about them.“ He’s just fine.” I muttered, turning back to Thomas, bandages and ointment in hand. “ I’m gonna need you to sit up a bit so I can apply the ointment and wrap the bandages around, ok?” I said to Thomas in a soothing voice. I would leave the injections for later. He wasn't in a good state to be taking them.
